Every owner and/or occupant of any residential property located within the Town of Lancaster’s Refuse District shall be responsible for storing all refuse in a leak-proof container with a close-fitting cover at all times until removed from the premises at disposal. Such container, including contents, shall not exceed sixty (60) pounds in weight.
The Town of Lancaster will provide recycling bin(s) to each household. Bins are issued at the Town Supervisor’s Office during regular business hours.

Furniture items, mattresses, appliances, etc. are picked up weekly. No pre-arrangement is necessary for large item collection.
Waste Management will pick up a maximum of four (4) auto tires with your weekly garbage. Only residential car tires up to 15 ” are acceptable (No truck or SUV tires). All tires must be off the rim.
TIRES WILL GENERALLY BE PICKED UP BY WASTE MANAGEMENT A DAY OR SO AFTER YOUR DESIGNATED COLLECTION DAY, DUE TO WASTE MANAGEMENT’S SCHEDULE FOR TIRE COLLECTION.
Items designated as household hazardous waste are not to be disposed with regular refuse. These items must be taken to a designated household hazardous waste collection event. Please refer to the Town’s brochure for further details. The Town will provide information on our home page under Alerts & Notices regarding scheduled household hazardous waste collection dates and sites as they become available.
