On June 12, 2020, Governor Cuomo signed Executive Order 203, requiring each local government in the state to adopt a community-specific policing reform plan by April 1, 2021.  A committee of Lancaster Police Department members, local government officials, and community members was created to develop a plan consistent with the requirements of Executive Order 203. A required step toward ratification is the release of the plan for public review and comment. The plan has been included for that purpose. Those that wish to add constructive and meaningful commentary can email Lieutenant Jonathan Ziders at jziders@police.lancasterny.gov or leave a voicemail at 716-683-2800 ext.103. Comments left on the Lancaster Police Department Facebook page will also be reviewed. The public comment period will last for 2 weeks, and upon completion, all information will be analyzed by the committee. After a review has been completed, any necessary agreed-upon changes will be made, and the committee will approve the final draft. The plan will then be sent to the Lancaster Town Board for ratification and then forwarded to the State before the April 1, 2021 deadline.
