The grant program was created to assist small business owners that have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. It is being made possible by Erie County which is committing $20 million in CARES Act funding to offer aid to small businesses with 50 or fewer employees. Grant amounts will be determined by need and awarded on business size (up to $10,000 for Sole Proprietors; up to $25,000 for 2-25 Employees; up to $45,000 for 26-50 Employees). Grants can be used for a variety of eligible past and future expenses but must be spent by December 30, 2020. For example, funds can be applied to a range of expenses including operations, payroll, adaptions to meet COVID restrictions, rent and more. A coordinated effort, 43North is lending their expertise to administer the program.
