1) What is needed to request a copy of an Accident or Police Report?
A) All requests for information regarding a Police and/or Accident Report must be submitted in writing. No information will be given over the telephone.
B) All requests must be submitted with a government issued photo ID, and when applicable, proof of relationship to the company/organization involved (ie business card).
C) New York State Law allows agencies five (5) business days to respond to requests. This response will either grant access to the information, deny access or acknowledge receipt of the request and advise that more time is needed to compile the records.
D) Any fees charged for a record search must be paid by either Check or Money Order only Payable to the Town of Lancaster Police Department prior to information being released.
E) Defendants and/or their attorneys will receive all Accusatories and Police Reports in Court on their arraignment date. No information is given out before then. Any questions regarding appearance dates or arraignments should be directed to the appropriate court: Town Court at (716) 683-1814 or Village Court at (716) 683-6780.

3) What is needed to obtain a personal background check on myself?
A) You must be a current Lancaster, NY resident to request a background check.
B) There is a $15 fee payable by check or money order only made out to the Lancaster Police Department.
C) This search is only of our database and does not include any other local police departments or any County, State or Federal agency.
D) You must come to the station in person to make application and submit a driver’s license or government issued photo ID and provide payment.
LANCASTER POLICE DEPARTMENT MAKES ACCIDENT REPORTS AVAILABLE ONLINE – Effective January 2013, the Lancaster Police Department is digitizing its accident reports through a partnership with the Carfax Police Crash Assistance Program. The reports are stored electronically in a secure database and are available for purchase online at www.crashdocs.org/ny-lancasterpd. These reports can now be easily obtained online within minutes, without ever leaving your home.

Come in person to the Police Station and fill out a Freedom Of Information Law request (FOIL). Bring with you a government issued ID, and if appropriate, a Business Card showing the Business name on the report. The Records Clerk will respond within 5 days indicating if the request was denied or if the report is ready to be picked up.
The Police station is open 24 hrs a day. If you have an emergency please dial 911. For non-emergencies dial (716) 683-2800. Administration, Records Clerk and other staff are generally available Monday through Friday 8 AM until 4 PM.
The Police Station is located at the 525 Pavement Rd, Lancaster, NY 14086. We are approximately
4 miles east of Transit Rd between Walden Ave and Genesee St.
SRO stands for School Resource Officer.
The Police Station does not collect fines for parking tickets. Parking tickets are payable at the Court in the Jurisdiction where you received the ticket. Detailed instructions are on the back of the parking tickets.

Information is available through the Detective Bureau regarding registered sex offenders residing in the Village of Lancaster or the Town of Lancaster outside of the Village of Depew.

The winter overnight parking ban is in effect November 15th through March 15th. Parking on all Town roads is prohibited from 1:00 AM until 7:00 AM. Parking on all Village streets is prohibited from 2:00 AM until 7:00 AM. Please help our plow drivers to keep the streets clear.
